Spring is coming soon, which means we will have lots of fun things going on at Ocean Canyon. If you don’t have plans at the end of March, come celebrate the beginning of spring with us at Tres Rios RV Resort. For the 7th consecutive year, Tres Rios will be hosting the annual Chili Cookoff. The festival will take place March 22nd through the 23rd. All this eating is also for a good cause – all proceeds from the Chili Cook-off benefit the American Cancer Society.
The Chili Cook-off is the first chili cookoff in the area. Last year we had over 70 cooks show up to show off their stuff! There are tons of categories for the submissions to the cookoff- barbecue, salsa, beans, dutch oven bread, a dutch oven open entry, fruit dessert, pork ribs, chicken, pork butt, brisket, and of course, chili! Friday night before the main competition, there will be a judging of bloody marys, margaritas, and an open-ended appetizer dish. 1st through 3rd place will be awarded to each category. At the end of the competition, each chef will have their total points tallied up. A $200 cash prize will be awarded to the chef with the most points scored.
After all the food has been judged, the food will be served to the public! Wristbands are only $5 dollars and are available for purchase for our members, as well as the public. Bring your appetite!
For the first time, this year we are also concurrently putting on a classic car show. If you’re a car enthusiast, Tres Rios RV Park will be the place for you to be this spring! We hope to see you at the Chili Cook-off, it will be an appetizing and fun time for the whole family!
